Assertion #1: God is not a puppet

[I’ve decided to make a series expanding on each of my 95 assertions about God. If you’re actually reading this, I would love to hear your feedback so I don’t feel like I’m screaming into the void.]

Assertion #1: God is not the private property of any religion; she is not the puppet preachers and politicians put in their pockets to preserve their power.

Any god fully contained inside the sacred book of any religion is easily packed into a puppet for the preachers and politicians to preserve their power. But that isn’t the real God.

God does not submit to the religious authorities who try to colonize her words in order to control other people. She is always wrestling her way out of the boxes we try to put her in.

Those who explain God easily do not know her for they keep her at arm’s length with their explanations. Those who know God cannot explain her. They only know that she is holding them like a mother who smothers with her love.

God remains forever wild and uncolonized. Every word in every sacred book came from a direct encounter with the wild God who does not serve the egos of preachers and politicians.
